EU Enlargement: The Impact of East-West Migration on Growth and Employment

FLOWENLA Project

Between 2001-2004 HWWA led a large-scale project in collaboration with five other European institutes: Bocconi University (Milan/Italy), University of Surrey (Guildford/UK), University of Parma (Italy), the Vienna Institute of International Studies (Austria), and the Center of European Policy Studies, Brussels (Belgium). The project examined how East-West migration affects growth and employment, especially under the conditions of an increasing liberalisation of trade and capital flows. An important component of the project was the development of harmonised data-bases on skilled migration and FDI in Eastern Europe. The project was concluded in Spring 2004.

The project was funded under the
EU's 5th Framework Programme
